We don't have anything in Gravity Forms that would be holding things up. As for what the best address to use, I would say one that actually exists on the same server and domain that you are using would be ideal. Again, check with Bluehost though. Ask them about PHP sendmail and what the rules/best practices are, as Gravity Forms just pushes the e-mails to wp-mail.php which is WordPress' sendmail script. All my best!

Just updating: this happened again just now. A person had registered, and entered their email with domain name state.us.vt, instead of the correct way: state.vt.us. Before we noticed that was the problem, we tried multiple "Resend Notifications" including just admin, not user notifications. Nothing went through, not in spam box, not in inbox. But as soon as we edited the email address to the correct domain and resent notifications to all, bingo, they went right through.

So where is this getting held up? Would it be a Bluehost thing where once they ID the email address as invalid because of a bounce from the user notification, they will not send out anything with that send address? Would it be better for us to use our own address as the admin notification send address?

OK, please let us know if it happens again. It is possible something on your host is checking to be sure the 'from' email is valid before it sends mail, but that would be a unique situation. You could test for yourself and if you get repeated failures, you could contact your host and ask them to check the mail logs.

We have all the email addresses on one line in the notifications setup (six of them, actually, not four, I wasn't remembering right). No BCC or routing.

We tested this the same way you did, and received an admin notification. We expect a lot more registrations, so we'll keep an eye on this to see if it happens again.

I just submitted one of my forms, with a non-existent email address, and I received the admin notification from that non-existent email account. If I were to reply to it, that would not work, of course.

The user would not receive their notification because the input the wrong email address.

Are you using routing or BCC, or just entering all 4 email addresses on one line in the notification settings?

It's possible the server that was sending the email did some sort of validation on the email address before they sent the email, so none were sent from an invalid email address.

We received a registration in which the registrant misspelled her own email address. Her PayPal payment went through OK (using CC there doesn't involve the email address), and her registration details show up in the Entries list, showing the misspelled email. Presumably she received no confirmation email because of the misspelling, but we did not receive a notification email either (at any of 4 email addresses set up to receive reg notifications).

So is it possible that when a registrant misspells their email address and you receive a bounce, that the normal notification to admins is not sent? If so, could that be corrected (perhaps WITH a bounce error notification?)
