Activation Email

  1. I too am having problems solving my user moderation issues. I have a few questions.

I only want users to be activated manually by admin and at the time of activation hit the "Resend Notification" to the user which states they have been accepted. So I need two things to happen no activation email and no initial notification to the user.

    1. Is it possible to not send the activation email? (This is my biggest concern)

    2. Is it possible to not send the user notification when they complete the form but do send it when I hit "Resend Notification" in the Entry Details page?

    Much appreciated!

  2. If you leave the box unchecked in the user registration add-on feed, the one which says "Send Email?", no email will be sent to the user. If you enable "User Activation" (the next checkbox down) then the user account will remain "Pending Activation" and the administrator can activate the account. The person who registered would not be able to because they don't have an activation link.

This feature requires the 1.5beta version of the User Registration add-on to enable user activation.

When you click "resend notification" from the entry details page, the notification will be sent no matter what your setting for the notification was initially.

  4. I did read that topic it was very useful. The scenario you mentioned would be perfect and is what I have selected and would love to happen.

    Send Email? -- Not Checked
    User Activation -- Checked

With this set-up I am receiving the User Notification and also receiving the activation email titled "[WordPress] Activate UserName".

  5. When you say "you are receiving" do you mean that the user is still receiving the "[WordPress] Activate UserName" email? Are you testing with different email addresses?

Can you post a URL to the page on your site where this form is embedded?

  6. Yes I am using a test email. Is it possible the theme I am using is sending the activation email?

    Here is the url:

  7. OK, I created a test registration with the email chris@rocketgenius.com

I received an opt-in email from Mailchimp, which I clicked through to confirm.

I also received this email from you:

Thank you for your Invitation Request!

  8. Sorry just noticed you tried the form. I had activation turned off, I will turn it back on and delete your user.

  9. Sorry looks like I posted right as you did. As I said I had activation turned off. That email you received I have as the user notification email when completing the form. The user will then have direct access to the site.

Again my goal is no activation email to the user as I only want the admin to activate accounts.

Please try again. I deleted your account. I have checked the user activation. Send email remains unchecked.

  10. OK, I created another account, this time with chrishajer @ gmail.com as the email.

  11. Great! And did it send you the user notification as well as the activation email? This is the issue I am running into "Send email" unchecked and still receiving.

Until moderation is a feature (and I know the developers are digging into it) I would like to achieve the following:

    1) User Registers
    2) User receives User Notification stating their request is being reviewed. (User also automatically added to Mailchimp "Membership Pending" list)
    3) User is manaully activated by admin and sent acceptance email from Mailchimp

  12. I received 3 emails:

    1. [WordPress] Activate chrishajertest
"To activate your user, please click the following link:"
    2. Because It's Local: Please Confirm Subscription
      Opt-in confirmation from Mailchimp
    3. Thank you for your Invitation Request!

Where does that 3rd email come from?

Also, what version of the User Registration add-on are you using?

  13. #3 is the User Notification email sent from Gravity Forms when completing the form.

#2 is the opt-in for the "Newsletter" list. Users will also automatically be added without double opt-in to the "Pending" list.

#1 is the email I would like not sent. Although I have "Send Email" unchecked I am wondering if somewhere in my theme its somehow overriding this and sending the activation email.

Also I am using the 1.5beta.

  14. Hello, for some reason there is no User Activation option on our user registration setting pages. Please advise. Thanks.

  15. Instovo, you need to be using the 1.5beta version. Are you using that, or are you using 1.4?

Both versions are available for download near the bottom of this page:
