Allow Users to edit only some of their profile info

  1. Hello,
I really want to use this plugin for a site that will allow members of an organization to register/submit their business info/edit their profiles and I am 99% ready to switch the process to GF and the User Registration add on. HOWEVER, two things that my client's current site allows are:
1: The site is able to display a list of all members to a logged in user (not a big deal, I can utilize the List Category Posts plugin for this.

2: The organization's administrators only want the member to be able to edit SOME of their profile data. The administrators need to control how many years the member has been practicing and they don't want members changing that piece of data.

Is it possible to somehow limit one field of a user's profile to admin access only?
    Thanks!
    Jenn

  2. With the User Registration Beta add-on, currently 1.5beta1, you can update an existing user. Create a form which has just the fields you want the user to be able to access, then when you map the feed, update just those fields and nothing else. Does that work for you? You will need to use the Beta release which is available for download here: http://www.gravityhelp.com/downloads/add-ons/#User_Registration_Beta

Now that sounds like fantastic news!
I'm gonna grab the Beta Version and give it a try.

Do you guys have any "subscription" for the User Registration Add-on??? So i can get the newest info for this one.

    Indeed, i need some help.
I got two "User Registration" Forms.
    #1 for User Registration and
    #2 for User Profile Update.

Usernames can't be edited in Wordpress, neither do i want that.
But when i link my "User Profile Update" form with the User Registration Add-On a Username is required.

How can i lock a field respectively make a field not editable?
More precisely i want to lock the username field. Is there a way to change this field from an input field to plain Text?
    Here is a Screenshot:
    https://www.evernote.com/shard/s31/sh/2fd22ec9-36b7-4f12-ba99-f71817e1c729/252b44857fde9411504cdb8b320ef1da?noteKey=252b44857fde9411504cdb8b320ef1da&noteGuid=2fd22ec9-36b7-4f12-ba99-f71817e1c729

And there is an issue with the email adress field. When i try to update an profile - and didn't change the mail adress - there comes an alert, that the email-adress already exists. So that makes sense, if you register an account. But i want them to update one...
    Here is a Screenshot:

Ok.... Now that I'm writing all the stuff.... did i make a mistake because i got two "User Registration" forms??? How is a "User Registration" form supposed to know that it should UPDATE - not REGISTER.

    So many thanks in anticipation!

    Hey Chris.
Relating to my last point » UPDATE a user:

    i found an entry of you ( http://www.gravityhelp.com/forums/topic/documentation-for-15b1 )
where you say "If you install the beta and go to the "User Registration" menu, you will be able to create a new feed, and in the first drop down you can select "create user" or "update user" as the action. After that, you map your feed as usual."

And that's exactly what i need, but do not have... I don't get a "create user" or "update user" action...

    cheers.

Can you please double check that you are using the User Registration 1.5 Beta? You would have had to manually download/upload this version to use it.

Oh boy... it seems like you're right.
Somehow the manually upload didn't work and i didn't recognize it.
You guys have a kind of remote thinking of what's wrong! :D

I try to fix that and gonna post here when I'm done.

    THANKS so far!
