Not sure if this possible already or not but instead of a drop down list there could be a field that is pre-populated (hidden) with the 'correct' options to choose from, like on a flight booking website, you start typing Dal... and it suggests 'Dallas' and you click that and don't have to type anymore.

This isn't something that's built into the forms, but you could us a jQuery plugin to achieve this. There are several out there to choose from.
