Assignment to certain group causes listSubscribe fail

  1. Since discovering I can view Gravity Forms' calls to the MailChimp API from my dashboard at MailChimp, I've conducted numerous tests that identified the failure point as the assignment to a specific group. Unfortunately, nothing I've tried (editing that group name to remove potentially tricky characters, shortening the name, deactivating the MailChimp add-on) works.

Submitting the form [ http://www.lpgeorgia.com/get-involved/volunteer/ ] does trigger the opt-in e-mail and subscribe a user who completes the process - as long as he doesn't select the second option (help with mailings). I've temporarily unchecked the option in the feed setup to assign the user to the problematic group because I don't want it to fail for an actual user; we are adding the person to that group manually if we see in the GF notification that he's selected that option.

I thought there was a chance that I had an issue with caching after changing the group name in my MailChimp dashboard, so I signed out of everything and left it. I didn't have time to come back to it until today, and I did so from a different computer than I've previously used so I feel sure that variable has been eliminated from the mix.

  2. Anybody? No one has a clue why listSubscribe would fail only when this one group is selected?

Quick question that would help me understand what is going on: have you tried to make a new list to replace it and see if that works?

I am not entirely sure what is causing this, but the fact that it is one specific group is strange. Could you create a new group, migrate the current subscribers to the "Help with mailings" group and see if that works?

How many groups do you currently have? Is it just two?

  4. Aaaaaand of course - the easy solution works. It's like rebooting Windows. You don't know that the heck was wrong but it's fine now. I'm wondering if the parentheses and/or ampersand in the group name, and then the subsequent renaming, caused the problems I experienced.

We have 13 groups - actually subgroups of a single "Volunteer Activities" group.
