Can't get Welcome message to STOP!

I currently have a form connected to MC and the "double opt-in" check box is checked but not the "send welcome email." Foe some reason I am still getting the opt-in email and the welcome email. I don't want the welcome email. Is it not possible to turn this off?

  3. Nobody else is reporting this issue. What version of Gravity Forms and the MailChimp Add-On are you currently using? Verify that they are the latest releases of both and let me know. It could also be a setting your MailChimp account.

V1.5.3 of Gravity Forms and V1.5 of MailChimp add-on. Am I correct in that if I leave the "Welcome message" box unchecked but have the "Double opt in" box check it should not be sending the welcome email.....right?

What setting in MC could it be? If it is indeed MC.

  6. Yes, that is the intended functionality. But MailChimp many not be honoring the settings that we pass to it as far as the Welcome Message goes. We just pass the data to MailChimp, after that it's MailChimp who handles everything on that end.

My suggestion to see if it's a MailChimp setting was just that, a suggestion. I don't know where it would be because i've never encountered this issue with MailChimp. You may want to ask the MailChimp support team if there is a setting somewhere to disable this.

    Carl,
I just spoke with MC via a live chat and this is our conversation:

    Christy: hey there jim

Christy: One moment while I read your comment.

Christy: which plugin is being used by the way

    Jim: Gravity Forms

Christy: the double opt in includes the final welcome email

Jim: According to Gravity forms that is not the way they have it set up

Christy: it sounds like the option to send a final welcome email is intended for folk not wanting to have the other double opt in info sent out

Christy: however it's best to contact the plugin maker to determine if its possible to avoid that

Jim: so what you're saying is that if I choose to have the double opt-in then that automatically includes the welcome email?

    Christy: yes sir

    Jim: ok thank you

Is this true? According to MC there is no way to have double opt-in and not send a welcome email.

  8. I wasn't aware that this was the case. But MailChimp would certainly know better than us as far as this functionality goes.

What is happening is MailChimp is ignoring the welcome email setting if double opt-in is selected. So it doesn't matter if it's selected or not, MailChimp automatically includes it as part of the double opt-in functionality.

This may be something they changed on their end, as i don't remember this being the case when we originally created the Add-On.

Is there a hack that I could do in the MC add-on API file to change this?

  10. If what they told you is true, it's not coming from our end. It's happening on the MailChimp side of things and we have no control over that. If MailChimp automatically sends the welcome email if double opt-in is enabled, then you won't be able to disable that.
