If I create a Single Line field and then want to change it to Paragraph field it should be a matter of selecting from a dropdown.
Granted, there are some instances this wouldn't work (like changing from date to address), but there are many instances this would work (like Single Line to Paragraph, or Dropdown to Multiple Choice or Checkboxes)
We will take this into consideration. The issue of different field types (ex. single text to name) and validation (ex. single text to email field) is the reason why the ability to change a field type was removed.

I can see how this would be a challenge because of validation. But even if it was implemented on the few fields that share properties, it would be great! You could have a dropdown that only includes compatible field types.
