For the past few years, I've been keeping an eye on "daily deals plugin" options within the WordPress universe. To this day there still aren't any realistic products.
The few that do exist don't work well, fall short on functionality, are overpriced or proprietary, want a piece of your sales, poorly supported, ridiculously inflexible, rarely updated, place horrible design and formatting decisions upon you, etc. All undesirable deal breakers.
In short, there are no worthy daily deal plugin options on WordPress. Essentially you're left with the option of poorly executed plugins with unsatisfactory results, or the expensive and stifling process of hiring a programmer to do it yourself, which has inherent problems of it's own.
We're talking about basic features that give the ability for the user to:
1. Post a product with picture and description.
2. The option to display a counter for how many people have purchased the item.
3. Pay for an item with merchant services.
4. Display a date/timer for when the offer expires.
5. Receive an email notification.
6. Send a voucher to the buyer.
No other bells, whistles or fancy formatting required, leave it entirely up to the post to describe and depict the daily deal.
It doesn't matter if we are talking about vacations, meals at restaurants, language lessons, vacation apartments, etc. It doesn't matter if you have one daily deal item or hundreds. A plugin that can handle those six tasks would be simple, yet extremely powerful. A combination that equals success.
This would be a perfect extension/add-on for Gravity Forms. In addition, unlike existing "plugins", Gravity Forms would keep it simple, allowing WordPress to handle the content, while enabling us to manage the nitty-gritty of our website or business.
As an add-on, this Gravity Forms feature could have major impact and launch businesses/websites to the next level. We all know that having multiple plugins from different vendors, with various versions or updates, etc. can reek havoc with Wordpress, making it a constant battle of just trying to get it to work! This single add-on could eliminate the necessity to install any other similar plugin and would further integrate Gravity Forms as the single most effective solution for your website. It would get us one step closer to seamlessly streamlining our websites with a quality product and dependable company; eliminating the need to search for other solutions that provide mediocre results.
If anyone can make it happen, it's Gravity Forms.
