Dropdown menu validation

    I'm working on a friends site designing him some forms. I was wondering why does GForms consider a drop down menu selected when you enable the required field for it. The first menu option is considered as the selection. BTW this is while you haven't selected any of the radio boxes in the field settings. Any clue?

    To be more specific, I want the first option to be "Please select", and require the user to select an option other than please select. I need a validation error if the user does not select an option.
