Enable users to add their own categories when posting on front end

    Hi There,

Before I purchase a gravity forms license, I was wondering if it would be possible to create a field that allows users posting on the front end to enter a new category and for the post to be assigned to that new category. Ideally there would be an optional drop down list of categories to choose a parent category from.
I've been trying to do this with the quick post widget, but it won't work with buddypress for some reason.

    Thanks,
    Dan

  2. Hi Dan, this functionality is not available by default; however, it would be possible with some custom code and the user of Gravity Forms hooks.

Ok cool, so if I buy a license then would you be able to provide the custom code and some basic instructions?

    Thanks,
    Dan

  4. @dan Unfortunately Dan this isn't something we could provide. It is something that can be done with custom code, but it isn't something we have a snippet readily available for because it has never been requested. It falls into the realm of customization and you would either have to write the code yourself to do this or hire a WordPress consultant with Gravity Forms customization experience to do so for you.

We provide lots of custom code snippets, how-tos and guidance on how to do things but it really depends on how involved the customization is. If it's something we can do in a few minutes, we typically have no problem helping the user out. If it's something that is more involved that may require a little planning to determine exactly how it should work, and is going to be a couple hours worth of work then it isn't something we can provide.

We'd be glad to recommend a WordPress consultant who could assist you with this type of customization.
