Form Elements Writing to Custom Fields

Love the plugin -- it's the first I've ever paid for.

I'm a little bit disappointed in the post-creation functionality, which is what I'm using it for -- I thought from the Features list on the site that it could do a bit more along those lines, which is why I jumped, because TDO Miniforms is a useability nightmare and doesn't give you nice CSS hooks without some major hacking.

Don't get me wrong -- I'm happy with the app, and it sounds like the features I want are coming soon.

My major request: arbitrary form element types (radio buttons, checkboxes, selects, whatever) that will write to a custom field on submit (in the same way that we now have a text field that does that). It doesn't seem like too much of a stretch, functionality wise.

I've managed to hack in image attachment using the Get The Image plugin, which works great in conjunction with GF, but am still scratching my head over other filetype attachments (in my case, document uploads as attachments on post creation by users). It'd be great to have a generic upload tool that saves the url of the uploaded file to a custom field (or whatever) as well.

The other thing I'd love would be select fields that are prepopulated from categories or tags (or...) That would make me very happy indeed.

Thanks again for the very elegant tool. I look forward to seeing new revs as they appear.

  2. ckovacs,
Your major request (different field types for custom fields) will be in our next release. I am already starting to work on it. It will probably be released in a week or two.

As far as the other requests, some (maybe all) of them can be accomplished using the hooks that we have in place. If you feel like playing with some PHP code, send me an email at acancado[at]rocketgenius.com and I can give you a hand.

    Thanks for the support.
    Alex.

Thanks, Alex. I've been meaning to look into the hooks -- if and when you guys feel like putting up some code examples in the doco section, that'd be great!

I second this request - and agree that having radio boxes, check boxes, (please don't forget date fields and time fields too) that could write to Custom Fields would be extremely helpful for submitting to post - and look forward to the next release with this feature

all in all gravity forms is a pretty fantastic plug-in - the first plug-in i've paid for as well and you've done a fantastic job so far!

  6. Radio buttons, check boxes and drop down capabilities (and more) will be coming to the Custom Field in the next release. We are currently working on this right now.

Can't wait for this to come out. Stoked to hear it may only be a week or two away. Let me know if you need a beta tester.
