GF Widget & 1 button form insertion ....

This has to be on the to do list, but I just searched all 8 pages of feature requests and don't see it unless I missed it.... a GF widget is a no brainer.... surprised this isn't in yet, the cforms widgets are extremely useful and the 1 button insert into any page or post via the function task bar in the edit page is also a great way to simplify form insertion.... both no brainers imho!

  2. There is a third party widget out there already. We do plan on building one into Gravity Forms in a future version but lots of people are using this right now.

If you do use the widget, you'll need to manually enqueue the scripts and CSS by placing a small block of script in your functions.php file as the widget doesn't automatically do that.

Also, there is already an icon in the toolbar to easily embed a form into the post body.

You can find out more about embedding forms and get the script to manually enqueue the styles on the documentation page below.

    Kev,

Was looking in the toolbar but the button is in the media section.... have never seen that before.... might be easier to find if it was in the toolbar with a neat GF logo on it that is more visible :)

Regarding widgets: Why outsource such a basic function to a third party.... making widgets a native function seems like a great way to make yet a better GF user experience by 1) eliminating the necessity of another plugin 2) eliminating the need to modify functions.php 3) insuring that a 3rd party plugin that may break and or not be updated will not short circuit GF from working. Just seems like it would be so easy to implement anyways! My two cents. :)

  4. Ah, okay I understand. We actually got a quite a bit of feedback on the button placement, and the overwhelming response was that people felt it was better placed with the media buttons - where you would go to embed other types of content rather than in the formatting toolbar. I personally agree with that, but I do see what you're saying. We also chose to forgo a lot of branding inside the app, but to go with an icon that was more recognizable as a form element.

On the widget - we actually didn't outsource that, it was done by another user who rolled his own and decided to share. We'll eventually include a default widget but I'm not sure exactly when that will be.. not too long I'm sure.

Thanks for the suggestions and feedback. We do really appreciate it.

    Kevin,

Thanks for your response, if the feedback on the button was to put it in the media section, then there you go. :)
