Gravity Forms / bbPress User Groups

  1. Hi,

I'm trying to setup a process of registering members for a website, who are then added into a group called 'Members 2012/13' (or 13/14 etc) and display that in bbPress.

The displaying in bbPress is likely a completely different story, however, is there a way to add a user to a group through Gravity Forms? I considered a different user role, but I'm not sure if that would allow me to do what I want (deny access to certain forums and display an image under their avatar).

Hope that makes sense! Thanks in advance.

  2. Having just submitted this, I've noticed 'Member' under my name - perhaps that is exactly what I'm looking to do - differentiate non-members from members.

  3. Sounds like a question for bbPress. Gravity Forms can store the data in whatever format you want, but the group functionality or role and controlling access to forums is all up to bbPress. Have you checked with bbpress.org already?

In the bbPress forums here, we're just using roles, which is the title you see beneath the name.

  4. Thanks for the reply - yep I thought as much. What I'd like to do is just use CSS to replace the roles underneath a username. Unfortunately, bbPress just uses .bb-author-role and no specific class for each role. Off to bbPress forums I go... :)

Thanks again - absolutely love Gravity Forms.

  5. You don't have to resort to using CSS to change the role. The names of the roles can be adjusted in bbPress, and there were plugins which allowed for access control to certain forums. It depends on which version of bbPress you're using, but it's all been done before.
