iDeal (dutch payment method) integration

    While the rest of the world seems to be using PayPal, we Dutchmen use our own little payment method. It's called iDeal. And yes, it is ideal. I think this Wordpress extension would be even more intersting for Dutch users if it integrated with iDeal.

    IDeal is a dutch payment system that is being used on almost every webshop in the Netherlands and Belgium. This payment system takes you to your bank where you can make your purchase directly from your bank account.

    You could use Gravity Forms for selling products, downloads or event subscriptions.

    Yea, we are planning on implementing features that will make it possible to use Gravity Forms with iDeal and other similar payment processors. I don't have a timetable yet, but it is one of the planned features.

    I agree with Jan Egbert,

    Besides the Paypal integration it would be great to have multiple payment gateways in gravity forms.

    I understand you can't put a date on it, but while you're at it, you can take a look at http://www.ogone.com as well. Features like this can really boost your sales of gravity forms here in Europe...

    We do plan on creating additional payment processor add-ons for Gravity Forms. PayPal was the first one as it's the most widely used, however once things are running smoothly with it and we are happy with how we have it setup we will work on add-ons for other popular payment processors.

    I'd be interested in an iDeal solution, too. Right now I am working on RoparunTeam018.org (a site about a Dutch team running for a charity) and the iDeal implementation is set on high priority for us (for effective fundraising in the Netherlands).

    There is currently no timetable for additional payment add-ons. We are still currently in a development cycle with Gravity Forms v1.5, the PayPal Add-On and the User Registration add-on. We have a list of Add-Ons we would like to create (including additional payment processing add-ons), but we don't have timetables for them as we only set schedules on active development cycles.

    @Taeke We have a lot of users in the Netherlands to iDeal is definitely an add-on we want to look at doing. Hopefully they have good API documentation (in english) for us to work with.

    This week I integrated iDEAL with WordPress using GF. It's still work in progress, but it works for now. I used GF to let the visitor fill out the data. The form redirects to a page with a custom template. Is this template the visitor can check and confirm the data and the parameters for iDEAL are written. After confirmation the visitor will be redirected to iDEAL to make the payment.

    The nasty thing with iDEAL is that there are so many ways to use it. Rian used iDEAL Lite, but there are also other iDEAL versions with bank subscriptions, not to mention the payment processors that give you the possibility of receiving iDEAL payments (Mollie, AssurePay etc.).

    So: in order for the GF team to set up a timeframe for making an iDEAL add-on (and I know, you're not doing that right now, I'm just saying this for when you do) they'll have to investigate which channel would be the best to start with.

    @illutic, you are right. This method is for iDEAL Light.

    But, with some adjustments, it will also work for Ogone and Rabobank Internetkassa. These interfaces use almost the same code. The exact parameters to send may differ, but the setup is the same. These 3 are the platforms I know, maybe it works for other platforms too.

    Setting up iDEAL Professional is much harder and more complex, and at the moment I see no easy way to do that. With or without GF and WordPress.

    For events this would be the iDeal solution. I don't want to set up a shop for this. So Gravity forms with iDeal would be very welcome :).

    @pronamic Nice! I'm glad someone in the community has taken up this project. It is something we would have liked to do, but there are so many Add-Ons we would like to develop *AND* not being from that part of the world we aren't familiar with iDEAL at all so it's good that someone familiar with it is creating it.

    Get in touch with me at carl@rocketgenius.com as we'd like to learn more and help get the word out when it is available. We want to try and find a way to promote 3rd party community created Add-Ons more since more and more developers are creating them now. It's good for the community. We'd love to find a way to make them available in the built in Add-On manager so users don't have to hunt for them.
