Importing Entries

Any news on 1.7 containing the ability to import entries. I have seen a 3rd party plugin that does handle some importing however there are limitations.

I'm hoping this will make it's way to the feature set soon. As this is the missing piece to the data portability puzzle.

    Thank You

Not that I'm aware of as the focus was on UI improvements, bug fixes, and changing Notifications and Confirmations. I'll move this to feature requests so that the development team sees it.

  5. I too would like to request this feature. I've got two sites that were redesigned from scratch and we did not bring over the entries. In hindsight, we should have planned better, but it would be great to be able to import entries.

The Exports I'm getting from Gravity Forms cuts off paragraph text fields...

I did get the Gravity Forms Mass Import plug in to sort of work, but it does not pull in any of the meta data like Entry ID, Entry Date, User IP and such. I definitely use the Entry Date to sort and pull out form data based on a specified time period.

  6. Since I had a fresh new site with GF installed. I just gave a manual migration a try.

Exported all of the wp_rg_ ... tables. I had nine of them since I was also using the Constant Contact Add On.

Then I just backed up the new database in full, double checked both site were using the same version of GF, DROPPED the nine tables and imported the .sql file that I exported from the previous site.

    All seems to be working.

Tell me... Did I totally screw something up? Am I missing something? All of the data seems to be there and formatted correctly. Even the uploaded files are available.

My guess is there would be a way to merge in tables into existing tables, but I would assume there could be an issue with the IDs not matching up. Maybe someone can document this procedure?
