MailChimp Groups

One of the biggest features of MailChimp is "groups". Without groups you're required to create separate lists to segment customers which then have to be merged to remove duplicates. This can be very burdensome especially when you're dealing with a large amount of users. In our case we have 10k+ and each has a special customer type. If we send the wrong email to the wrong list or group than it can cause a rash of unsubscribes or complaints.

I guess what I'm getting at is, please please add group functionality to the Mailchimp plugin. I'm having to do really awful tasks and hacks to make it kinda work. It hasn't been updated since June and that was simply to update the API and remove bugs. This is the #1 reason we updated to developer and it's become this biggest headache. We would really appreciate a refresh.

    Thanks

  2. Hi Zach,

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll bring this up to the team and see what our plans are for adding support for this.

  3. Hey Zach,

We're aware of the need/desire to have the group functionality in the MailChimp add-on. For the past while, our focus has been on several substantial feature enhancements to the core Gravity Forms itself. When we circle back to revise the MailChimp Add-On later this year we'll be adding support for groups.

I need groups and can't wait for an update so I modified the mailchimp plugin. I have basic "beta" support for groupings, non-hidden checkboxes only right now. Anyone interested in it?

I don't want to pastebin the code, as that would make it public, how should I post it?

Hey rickrrr. I'm interested as I would love to have group support. Currently I'm having to use multiple list and this sucks for obvious reasons. I'd be happy to give you my personal email or something so you don't have to post it publicly.

    Kevin,
When you say later this year....do you mean by the start of 2012?

    Hey biglife,

We may have to go via email, although I might put it on my site, password protected, and post the pass here. It's only one file, mailchimp.php, that has changes.

Do you have a test site? I don't think the code I wrote will break anything, but there are just too many variables in every install to be sure without a lot of testing, and the only site I've tested on is the one I wrote the mods for.

For what I've written so far, your groups need to be checkboxes and cannot be hidden.
