New Blog Registration url is Broken

  1. I am using WP Multisite 3.5 with the Gravity Forms User Registration Add-on v1.4 at http://magicwonderful.com/register

When a new user registers, the email that is generated by WordPress says, "Log in here: http://magicwonderful.comtoby4/wp-login.php" rather than "Log in here: http://magicwonderful.com/toby4/wp-login.php" - notice the extra slash after the ".com".

When a new user signs up via the default WordPress signup page, the generated url is correct: http://magicwonderful.com/wp-signup.php

Is this a known bug? Is it something on my setup? Any ideas on where to start troubleshooting this?

    Thanks!

  2. Sounds like something related to your site being installed in a subdirectory (toby4). What are the settings for WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) on the General settings page of your WordPress admin?

    This comes up with a 404: http://magicwonderful.com/toby4/

  3. The siteurl is http://magicwonderful.com, and the home field is http://magicwonderful.com.

I tried adding the trailing slash for the home site in my network, but that didn't change anything.

When I register with the Gravity Forms addon, the blogs are created, but the necessary slash is not added to the url in the database. Blogs that are created via wp-signup.php have a slash before the blog slug. This is viewable via my http://magicwonderful.com/wp-admin/network/sites.php page.

  4. I'll bring this to the attention of the development team.

How is the subdirectory/URL 'toby4" related? I see how the slash is missing, but why is toby4 being added at all? Are you using any rewrites in your .htaccess which might affect this?

  5. The "toby4" was the blog url I created when I signed up via http://magicwonderful.com/register/. You and the development team can try registering some test blogs if you'd like. Compare the result when registering via the url above (Gravity Forms) and http://magicwonderful.com/wp-signup.php (default WordPress registration).

I am not well-versed in .htaccess and did not write anything custom myself. I am running W3 Total Cache, which put a bunch of stuff in there. You can view the contents of my .htaccess file are here: http://pastie.org/5633898

The magicwonderful.com site has all sorts of plugins running, so I created a fresh WordPress install with only Gravity Forms running at http://gravityformtest.wordpresswebsitedesigns.com/register/. I got the same result - no slash in new blogs' urls before the slug. Please feel free to create test blogs if it helps.

  6. Thank you for the additional information. I will send it all to the development team for them to look at. Sorry for the inconvenience.

  7. Thank you. I look forward to hearing back once the dev team has an opportunity to look into the issue.

  8. Are you comfortable installing the 1.5beta8 version of the User Registration add-on? It is beta, but it's very stable and is almost ready for public release. The developers think this issue has already been resolved. If you would like the beta version, please email me at chris@rocketgenius.com and I will send you the beta release. Thank you.

  9. I received and installed what appears to be 1.5.beta1, which I received from Chris. The issue persists on both of my sites listed above. Any thoughts?

  10. I checked the version I sent you and it is definitely 1.5beta1.8. The changelog is accurate but maybe the plugin header does not reflect that version.

I will send this information to the developer of the plugin to see if they have any feedback for you.
