Ok......sorry if this is dumb question I am new at this webdesign stuff,

I am doing a site for a friend and have gravity forms, it seems they are not getting the emails all the time. I have my email as a backup in the bcc and I have got ones they have not. I have three different contact forms on the site. they are on the following pages if you need that info groups, parties, contact. The website is http://www.amazingacrescornmaze.com

I have there email in the send to email box.

What should I have in the "from email" and "reply to box"?

    Thanks
    Corinne

  2. It's possible they are receiving the emails but they are being flagged as spam for some reason. Have them check their spam filter.

Also, if their email is hosted by Google Apps and is being sent from the same domain name it's possible their Google Apps email setup wasn't done properly so Google Apps could be rejecting the email for security reasons.

You may also need to setup WordPress to send email via SMTP which is a more reliable way to send email. Here is a plugin that you can use for SMTP:

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-mail-smtp/

You would have to check with your web host on the proper configuration settings for using SMTP.

    thanks Carl,

You missed one of my questions (well 3 of them )

In Notifications how should I have the following set up:

I have their Email in the "send to" email box.

What should I have in the "from email" and "reply to box"?

    ALSO,

They did receive some emails just not all of them.......would that still be part of SMTP problem? And I am using HostGator.

  4. Sorry, it wasn't clear you were asking multiple things.

I can't really tell you what you should have in the From Email and the Reply To box. That is entirely up to you. The From Email is who the email will say it is from and the Reply To email overrides the From Email when they hit "Reply". So this is configurable, it's whatever you want to use. Personal preference.

If they are receiving some emails and not all of them then it is either a spam filter issue or a hosting issue, probably not an SMTP issue.

Hi, my notifications have also recently stopped working. They are not going into spam, however I AM using Google Apps. When you say...

"Also, if their email is hosted by Google Apps and is being sent from the same domain name it's possible their Google Apps email setup wasn't done properly so Google Apps could be rejecting the email for security reasons." ...

Can you clarify what you mean by the proper setup? Are we talking at the Zone file level, or in the Google account itself?

    Appreciate any advice, thanks.

  6. You'd have to contact your web host, it's a web host setup issue. I don't know specifically what they change. But contact your host, explain emails sent from PHP to a Google Apps account using the same domain as the Google Apps email aren't being received. I know BlueHost can make the change as they had to do it for our own account. Others such as HostGator have made the change for users also.

Sorry Carl......one more for you :)

My brain is not working today. So if i leave the "from email blank" will it shows the email of the person filling out the form? Or is there something I need to put in there so it does this (can it do this) Hope that makes sense

    Thanks for your time,
    Corinne

  8. The From and Reply To addresses for Admin Notifications can either use an email address you fill in, OR be tied to a form field form. See this screenshot:

    http://www.gravityhelp.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/notifications-admin.png

If you don't fill in a From or Reply To address then you need to select an email form field to use to populate this dynamically. It won't do it automatically.

If you are talking about User Notifications then the From and the Reply To have to be filled in, they can't be populated dynamically like the Admin Notification can be because the Admin Notification is setup to be FROM the person filling out the form where as the User Notification is coming from the site owner.

Thanks Carl. After much back and forth with the hosting company, I just used the WP Mail SMTP plugin and that fixed the problem.
