Replace unwanted characters from file upload

  1. This isn't too much of a feature request as it is a suggestion. It would be nice if the file names that got saved from a file stripped out characters that break the url if directly submitted. This happens to me when customers submit files with a # sign in their file name. I strip it now before inserting the url into the database and it works fine, but it'd be nice if this was built in so that it would just work automatically for insertion.

  2. The 1.6 version which is currently in beta 3 and available on the download page does a better job at renaming the files. You can try uploading your file here and see what the link looks like in your email confirmation:

  3. That's perfect. I'll probably upgrade to the beta then. Thanks.

  4. I can't recommend doing that on a production site, but it is fairly stable and usable if you want to experiment. The 1.6 release is going to be really nice when it comes out.

I saw the link to your file upload as well, and it came across hyperlinked properly in Gmail and the link in the entry is also clickable.

One additional feature in the 1.6 release is a trash function for entries, and when you empty the trash, the attachments are deleted as well. I just tested that too and it works perfectly.

  5. Wow. I'm pretty stoked about that then. Those sound like extremely useful features. I have to say though, Gravity Forms is the most useful plugin I use in development. The web app that brought this to my attention is built on 60 forms that are all generated through gravity forms and about 2k lines of code using your hooks to do what I want with the information in the forms. It literally saved me hundreds of hours on this project and I thank you.

By the way, multiple to address for user emails would be a useful feature. I'm sure it's been requested before.

    Thanks for the updates.

  6. Thanks for the kinds words. I'm not sure I understand your question regarding multiple to addresses. You can enter as many email addresses as you want in the to field now, separated by commas, no spaces. If you need further clarification, please post a new topic (because it is unrelated) in the support forums and we'll be glad to help you accomplish what you want.
