Reply to Notes on entries

  1. I regularly get contacted via my contact form. The initial contact then results in back and forth and a long email thread.

I've recently discovered the Notes feature for each entry and realized that I can respond to the initial contact directly from the Notes by selecting the 'Also email this note to..' drop down. Is it possible for the person receiving the note to reply directly to it, therefore keeping the thread organized within the Gravity Forms notes? This would be a simple, but really awesome, CRM feature.

I've searched the forums and Gravity Forms site but couldn't find any info on it, so I'm guessing that it's not possible. If that's the case, please count this as a feature request. Thanks!

  2. Gravity Forms does not track replies by the customer when you opt to send them the note via email. That is more complex integration and would require either some sort of automatic email parsing or linking to a form for them to a respond.

But it is something we would like to tackle in the future. As email parsing is going to be far more complex to handle in a reliable way, what might make sense is to integrate a way for users to respond to notes sent to them via a special form.

I would like to overhaul the Notes capabilities and make some major enhancements to it and the ability to allow the user to reply to a Note via a built in Note specific form sounds like it could be a great way to enable this.

It does mean the user would have to click on a link to reply rather than replying via email, but it would make this possible and this type of back and forth isn't unusual. I've seen ticketing systems that do something similar and require the user click on a link and complete the form to reply.

You just gave me a great idea... so i'm sure we'll implement something like this in the future. Currently it isn't built in functionality.
