Send Post/Page as Email

Since Lester Chan won't be updating his plugins, it would be awesome to use Gravity Forms as a tool to allow users to send a post/page via email to a friend.

I'm envisioning clicking a link, getting a lightbox with from name & email, to name & email, a message and CAPTCHA and it sends a nice email with a link to the article.

This may even be possible currently, I'm just not sure how.

ShareThis just seems to slow down my sites too much, I like having everything within my site.

  4. It's possible now with the downside being you can't set the from address to something dynamic. This is something we plan on adding in a future release to enable a dynamic from address. Then its just a matter of creating a form and using the notification to send the link to the page.

Seems simple enough to set from to something suych as DO-NOT-REPLY@yurdomain.com and subject to contain the "from" info.

How woud we pull in the URL of the page being sent?

  6. Gravity Forms stored the URL of the page that the form was submitted from. It's called the Embed URL and it is available as a variable in the form field variables drop down you have access to when building your Notification emails or populating default values on fields.

So if you use this, it will output the full URL to the page the form was submitted from.

Any update on how to achieve this? I'd rather this than a bulky plugin that will slow my site down.

  8. @gymnation, please begin a new topic and make your request there. A lot has changed in 2 years and it does not make sense to piggy back on a topic this old. Please begin a new topic and let us know exactly what you would like to do and we will give the best current advice we have. Thank you.
