The post I made here is for a little guidance. Right now, I'm experimenting with the idea of building a membership-based site with Members and GF. Nothing is set in stone just yet.

If it turns out that I can do what I plan, I'll definitely write a blog post on my experience using the two plugins together like this.

hmm. sorry to add another post here, but something came to mind:

It would be good if a custom login form could be created with a base of all the database fields available (nice name, website url, etc) while still retaining the email password feature. Allow a show/hide feature to choose what fields remain visible to the end user.

Seal that section as a predefined form. (click from side bar, that form appears)

They could then program a conditional that asks if that is all that needs to be saved. (form field count, as an array). If the array count is greater then the predefined amount then it does two things:

Saves to wp_user and wp_user_meta for the predefined form, and then the admin created form would then create a custom post based on the additional fields added.

So..custom login default, with the option to extend it with a custom form. That would make a membership much easier to start.
