Using the International phone number format is it possible to have a separate field for the country code? So that it reads +44 12345678?
If it can't could we possible add it as a feature request, many of our clients using CRM's for global clients would appreciate the ability to have this.

It's not currently a feature. The upcoming Gravity Forms v1.6 will have javascript mask capabilities on the Single Input field. You will be able to use that to create a field like this which auto-formats the input based on the mask that you create.

Newbie question: Would it be possible to separate fields for telephone area code and telephone number?
Needs to be country independent. In our case we would need a separate field for a 2 digit area code number and second field for 8-digit telephone number.
Any thought on how to achieve this?

it would be good if there were some default phone option formats, like for australia

so that they are available with the base installation. Similarly it would be good if the state/country list was more extensively compiled.
