Upgrading to User Registration _1.5.beta1

  1. Hello, I want to upgrade to the User Registration Beta version. Do I have to deactivate and uninstall the older version first? I tried using 'Easy Theme and Plugin Upgrades' which allows you to set if a plugin is new or an upgrade, but that did not work.

I have quite a few custom meta fields that I don't want to lose for two registration forms.

    Thank you,
    Nancy

  2. Remove the wp-content/plugins/gravityformsuserregistration folder and then install the beta version using the normal Plugins > Add New. You won't lose anything that way.

  3. Also, if you want, I have a later version of the beta which has squashed a few more bugs. Rather than install the beta 1, I would like you to install the version I have. Please email me at chris@rocketgenius.com and I will send it to you. Reference this post in your email.

  4. Hi Chris,
Thanks so much for that. Another question, is there a way through GF to customize the email that the user receives?

Plugins to do this are very cumbersome, adding lots of user registration features that I already have in place.

The Wordpress file that controls this is very user unfriendly and won't be advisable to change due to upgrades.

    Any thoughts are appreciated!
    Thank you, Nancy

  5. Nancy, please take a look at this post by the author of the User Registration add-on and see if it addresses your concern: http://www.gravityhelp.com/forums/topic/customizing-activation-pageoutput#post-101353

I thought I read something on my phone about a newer version being posted today.

I'd love a copy of the updated version as well.

With regards to the above linked post: http://www.gravityhelp.com/forums/topic/customizing-activation-pageoutput#post-101353

Am I correct is thinking that I should paste that snippet to my theme functions page?

  9. That is correct - then you will also need to copy a version of the activate.php file from the user registration folder to the theme level and edit that file accordingly.

  10. Hello,
I'm not sure if my question below would be resolved by the activate.php modifications mentioned above.

When I put someone on Pending status by not immediately activating them it gives me a chance to review them before I activate.

But, when I activate them on the Pending, they do not get an automatic email with a login link.

Is that something that will be added? I may end up with dozens of people waiting activation and don't want to send individual emails with their username and login links.

    Thank you! Nancy

  11. Nancy, are you using the pending activations feature in the beta or are you using a custom system? If you are using the pending activations feature in the beta, upon confirmation they should receive a notification for that. I tested and confirmed this.

  12. Hi!

I'll like a newer version of User Registration instead of the Beta 1 as well.

    Dropping you an email!
