Warning and Fatal Error and site down after upgrade to WP 3.2.1

  1. After update to WP 3.2.1, my site went down and displayed the following error:

    Warning: require_once(/home/mysite/public_html/wp/wp-content/plugins/gravityformsuserregistration/data.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/instit23/public_html/wp/wp-content/plugins/gravityformsuserregistration/userregistration.php on line 115

    Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home/mysite/public_html/wp/wp-content/plugins/gravityformsuserregistration/data.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/instit23/public_html/wp/wp-content/plugins/gravityformsuserregistration/userregistration.php on line 115

    The dashboard is functional and all of the Gravity Forms plugins information, forms, setting, etc. are working with the exception of the User Registration Add-On. Please help as this has crashed my client's site and deactivating the User Registration plug-in (until the issue could be resolved) did not fix the problem.

  2. Please try and log in with FTP or an SSH command line and remove the gravityformsuserregistration folder. That will completely remove the plugin and the specific file (gravityformsuserregistration/userregistration.php) that is making the call to the non-existent file (gravityformsuserregistration/data.php). Removing the plugin folder and then visiting the plugins section of your WordPress admin will deactivate the plugin since it's no longer present.

    Once that error is gone, you can try uploading a new copy of the User Registration Add-on. If you still have an error on activation, we'll have to address that.

    It's possible that the WordPress upgrade did not go well, or maybe something else was updated at the same time. But first remove the User Registration Add-on (the whole plugin folder) and see if the errors in your admin are gone.

  3. I followed the advice, logged in with FTP, removed the folder and uploaded a new copy of the User Registration Add-On. It worked! (phew). Thanks.
