Add to taxonomy instead of post tags, maybe usign a drop-down?

  1. I've created a custom taxonomy (shops) which will be used to allow users to add shops in the town, to build up a community portal type of site.

What would be perfect, would be for me to have a drop down menu with a selection of choices, such as pub, supermarket, agency, etc and then the user could select which it is from that and it would then be added to the custom taxonomy.

    Is this possible?

  2. The Post Tags field doesn't currently support this, but it is something we plan on adding in the future.

It is possible now but requires implementing it as a customization using the available API hooks. How proficient are you with PHP?

  3. I know the basics, and Google is my friend, so if you have a starting point on what I should do, I can pull all my hair out, but get there in the end :o)

What the hell, I'm 40 tomorrow, and life will be starting again, so I can always die trying it out tonight.
