Adding posts via form does not create user, posts under default author

  1. I'm using a form to allow visitors to make posts on the site. However every post gets the default admin as the author. I'm wondering how to get it to create authors so a visitor can get credit for posting.

Here's a link to the form:

  2. There is an option on the Post Title and Post Body fields to use the current logged in user as the author. You must select this option. If you have selected this option and it isn't working for you, let me know... we can look into it but would need a WordPress admin login for this site in order to see what is going on. You can send that to us, if necessary, via our Contact Us form. Thanks!

  3. Carl for some reason it's not working for me. When I log out of the admin, and go create a post in the form, then log back in to see the entry (saved as draft) it's always got the admin as the author. So it's not creating new users.

I'm going to email you the admin login and password. I appreciate your help. Great support btw!

As an aside I tried enabling user registration though I don't really like to do that. However it still is not creating authors.

  4. It isn't designed to create a new user.

What it does is *IF* the user already has a user account and is logged into your site when they submit the form it can recognize that and it will use their user account as the author of the post.

But it doesn't actually create user accounts... one has to exist and the user logged in for it to use that author for the post.

  5. OK in that case it's working as intended. Thanks for giving it a look.

Any thoughts on how to create users from scratch with a post created via the form?

Or actually, even if it won't create a new user, how can I get the data entered via the form (name and website are important) into my author info shown on the published post? Is there an easy way to get that to show up?

There's another plugin, TDOF Mini forms I think is the name, and the plugin uses a default author, but somehow gets the name and website info showing up on the published post. I'm guessing it's a simple bit of code somewhere, I don't know if you already know how that would work.

  6. On this page you can see there are different authors, however in the admin there is only one author attached to these posts. But the important thing is that the name and website link show up. I didn't create these posts with gravity, however it's the last thing I have to solve. Thanks!
