Admin notifications not reaching recipient (on certain addresses)

  1. Hi there
I am using Gravity Forms on a number of sites, and haven't yet had any issues with user notifications. But, for some bizarre reason, I am having a problem with them on this site:
    http://www.ecopreneur.co.za/

Basically what happens is that I've set the notification to go to one address (not the same url), and set up a bcc to a gmail account. The bcc mail gets there, but the other one doesn't. There's no sign of it in any trash folders, so it's like it's vanishing into thin air. I tried upgrading the GF version to the most recent one, but that doesn't seem to have changed anything. The WP version is 2.9.2 - is there any likelihood that would cause any trouble?

Any advice would be most appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Pia

  2. Is the GMail account using Google Apps with a custom domain name? Is this domain name the same as your site?

If so, depending on how you setup your Google Apps account it may require a change by your web host to allow the emails to arrive. Depending on your mail DNS settings they may be getting rejected if being sent to a Google Apps account using the same domain name as the site sending the email. You would have to talk to the web host and explain the problem and that it only happens with emails being sent to the GMail address.

If this isn't the case, it's possible it's being flagged as spam.

  4. The gmail address receives the notification, it's the other email addresses that don't. And none of those non-gmail addresses is the same domain as the site.

But, if I put in my own non-gmail address, the notification comes through just fine - so I guess it must have something to do with my client's email settings, for his various accounts (I think they're all hosted with the same people, which is the only common thread I can think of). Normal mail comes through - I checked that at least the accounts in question are working - but not forms notifications.

    Anyway, thanks for your input!

I'm having this same problem and it is potentially undermining the whole reason I've set up a form!

I've set it up to send an email to a political target on a campaigning issue - see stopaidscampaign.org

But in testing nothing is arriving in the client's inbox. Is there anything I can do, bearing in mind I won't be able ask the political target to change their settings?

  6. @beclo Have they checked their spam box to see if the email is being flagged as spam? Have you checked to see if the notifications arrive at other email addresses?

You may also need to setup your WordPress site to send email via SMTP. Here is a plugin to do that:

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-mail-smtp/

Once you install that plugin you must configure the SMTP settings and there is an email test that you can use to test email arrival. You will need to check with your web host for proper SMTP settings in order to set that plugin up correctly.

Hi Carl - thanks very much for the response

Have tested with a few different email addresses (all external to my domain / hosting) , some addresses have no problem, some filter as junk, some don't receive at all. Strange.

Good idea about SMTP but don't think it will work, as I need the from address to be different each time (i.e. the one the user inputs)

  8. With the emails arriving at some of the addresses no problem this means Gravity Forms is sending the emails but something else is preventing them from arriving.

SMTP should still work for sending the email from the users address. I would suggest giving that a shot.

We have had other users using Exchange Server with similar issues and it turned out to be configuration issues. The emails were being sent but Exchange was rejecting them for some reason.
