AJAX error during save

    Hi!

I also have a problem with Gravity Forms when saving my form. I've been able to save it in the past and now it seems to have stopped working for some reason. The actual form works fine.

I get a popup that says that there was an error with AJAX

  2. Typically when there is a problem saving the form it is due to 1 of 3 things:

    - mod_security firewall settings blocking the request
    - lack of available PHP memory to complete the request
    - plugin or theme conflict interrupting the request

The first thing you need to do is this:

    - Create a New Form
    - Add a Single Input field to your form
    - Save the form
    - Continue editing
    - Add another Single Input field to your form
    - Save the form and continue editing
    - Add a Drop Down field to your form
    - Save the form

If you get an error only when adding a drop down, radio button or checkbox field to your form then it's a mod_security issue. If this is the case you need to contact your host and explain the issue and have them whitelist Gravity Forms so mod_security doesn't cause this issue.

If it is not a mod_security issue then the next possible issue is a PHP memory issue. You would need to increase your available PHP memory. You can find more information on how to do this here: http://www.nerdgrind.com/increase-wordpress-and-php-memory-limit/

If after properly increasing your PHP memory you still have the issue then you need to check for theme and plugin conflicts by following the instructions here: http://www.gravityhelp.com/forums/topic/testing-for-themeplugin-conflicts

Right I went through every one of those and nothing fixed it. Still the same error.

I should tell you that I'm on shared server, and apparently I cannot increase my PHP limit unless I upgrade. What does this mean!? My site has not even been released yet and it's out of memory when only Gravity Forms is running? Doesn't seem right.

Anyway, I'll let you chew over that little problem for a while.

    Thanks infinitely for your help.

Well here's a weird update for you here...

I de-activated all the plugins, and left my site without editing anything for about 10hours. Just had another go at editing that form and it worked!? Re-activated the plugins and the form works still. So something is askew here...I'm thinking you've got a bug in there somewhere.

I'd like to know what the possible reason for this is, but I want to thank you for your help also.

  5. @ribena_wrath Nobody else is reporting this issue and when it is reported there is always a specific cause, typically server environment related. So it's possible there was an issue with your server of some sort that caused a problem with the AJAX request.

Typically this issue is due to the reasons I described above, but it's possible some other server related issue was going on at the time. Glad to hear it's working for you now.
