All Messages end up in Spam Folder

My form is marking all incoming emails as spam. I am not currently using Akismet as this is still a development site on a subdomain. This whole form is useless to my client however if I cannot fix this "marking" issue... any advice would be appreciated. I LOVE the plugin and hope to be able to use it for future needs.

Thank you in advance! (Keep up the good work)!

Just to be clear it's not the actual entries themselves that are being marked as spam but the email notifications that are ending up in your email accounts spam folder? Gravity forms doesn't actually send the email notifications that is handled by either your server (if it is configured to do so) or a wordpress smtp plugin if you have one installed. Is your email/dns configured for spf and dkim?

You are correct in that it was the email notifications that were ending up in my Spam folder. I have since solved the issue.

I believe it was caused by the fact I did not have a proper "From Name" assigned in the Notification Administrator panel. So while there was an "From Email" with no name attached to the email notification it was being flagged as SPAM.

Thanks for your reply though! Keep it up! So far Gravity Forms is awesome!!

  4. Greetings guys...

I'm having the same issues. All entries going into SPAM. Below are some stats:

    • Using Akismet since 2008 on this WordPress site.
    • Using Gravity Forms since Aug 2011
    • 6 entries entered SPAM since January 23, 2012
    • No added plugins in the last 2-3 months
    • No change in this 'form'

So it 'seems' that out of the blue... all the entries since (Jan 20 2012) have been going into SPAM.
I'd love input/help with this issue if anyone has a solution.

Thanks in advance for all advice!

  5. Hi TweetPages,

To clarify, are your entries being marked as spam in the Gravity Forms admin or are the emails being sent being marked as spam in your email inbox?

  6. Greetings David,

Great clarifying question. YES - my entire order is getting caught.
I just received another 3 orders since yesterday (feb 8, 2012) and all three went into spam.
    You can see here: http://tweetpages.com/images/spamorder.jpg

Since it gets caught in the "Entries" section... it does not send me an email that the customer ordered.

Initial Order Form is here: http://tweetpages.com/custom
NOTE: no changes to order form or settings since I created in Aug 2011.

The question is: Did this happen because of the connection with Akismet?

Thanks again for any help and feedback,
    -Matt Clark

  7. @TweetPages To clarify, you are referring to the Spam functionality in the Entries correct? All of your form submissions are being flagged as Spam by the Akismet integration? If so, then you'd have to contact Akismet and find out why they are being flagged as spam.

A couple things to note... if you had the Akismet plugin ACTIVATED but not configured with a valid Akismet license key this can cause problems. I believe it's fixed in the latest version, but I know in the original release with this functionality if Akismet wasn't fully setup it would mark all entries as Spam automatically. That is another thing to check.

The only thing that will mark an entry as spam is Akismet integration. The Spam functionality is not used unless Akismet is active.

In the future please post your own support request when you have an issue rather than posting on someone else's support request. The original posters issue was related to email spam, not entry spam, so your issues were not the same and that is typically the case so it's always best to post your own support request so we can handle each request individually.

  8. Greetings Carl,

Thanks for the info. I wanted to reply (sry).
#1 - Will do! I will create a new post next time.
#2 - I've had Akismet setup since 2008 on that site... HOWEVER, I just logged in and checked the settings and the API key is missing. I'm not sure why... but I had to retrieve it again.

That should do the trick. I apologize, I was unaware that my Akismet was not working properly.

Thanks to all for the feedback and help!
