already using IPN for another plugin

  1. I'm already using IPN for the s2member plugin. In the Gravity forms Paypal documentation it says “If IPN is already enabled, you will see your current IPN settings along with a button to turn off IPN. If that is the case, just check the confirmation box on the Gravity Forms PayPal settings page and you are ready to go!”

BUT the notification URL is not the same as the one supplied in the documentation. Is this an issue?

  2. What do you mean by: the notification URL is not the same as the one supplied in the documentation?

  3. In the documentation it says http://gravityhelp.com/documentation/page/PayPal_Add-On

If IPN is not enabled, click the ‘Choose IPN Settings’ button.
Check the box to enable IPN and enter the following Notification URL: http://www.yourdomain.com/?page=gf_paypal_ipn

My IPN is already on because I had set it up for s2member. My IPN field says “ http://ccarts.ca/?s2member_paypal_n…”

  4. Gotcha, as far as IPN setup goes, if your PayPal account already has the IPN address configured in your IPN settings, then you can leave it as is. Gravity Forms passes a custom IPN address to PayPal.

The only time the IPN address has to be populated is if it's not already pointing somewhere. PayPal requires the IPN address to be populated for IPN to work. But it can be pointed to a non-Gravity Forms service and Gravity Forms will still work with it.

  5. Hey Rob

So just to clarify - if we have a separate membership plugin that requires IPN - but we process the payment via Gravity Forms FIRST before the other plugins does anything.

If we go to the PayPal.com IPN settings page and define the IPN receving URL of that other plugin, will Gravity Forms still be able to process the payment fine?

    Thanks!

  6. Yes, it should be fine.

  7. And will the "other plugin" (whose IPN URL is set up in PayPal) also receive IPN notifications?

    Thanks!

  8. Dan,
Unless you are using PayPal Payments Pro recurring payments, you will be fine. Transactions made with Gravity Forms will be routed to Gravity Forms (even thought the IPN URL is pointing to the other plugin). The other plugin should also receive their IPNs correctly.

  9. Useful thread, thanks guys.

I have Gravity Forms on 2 different domains, and need both processing recurring payments (I'm using the PayPal Payments Standard add-on).
Will they both work if PayPal only has http://www.MyDomain1.com/?page=gf_paypal_ipn in the IPN URL?

    Cheers
