Any issues with ZippyKid hosting?

I have a simple event registration site which uses GravityForms, GF PayPal Add-on and the GF Constant Contact Addon (all current versions). The only other plugins are the Yoast Google Analytics and TinyMCE Advanced. On ZippyKid.com, I've had a recurring problem where my forms take up to 1 minute to process (i.e. transfer to PayPal) when the user clicks submit. Even the very simple contact form had this same delay. ZK support has been able to get the current forms to perform as expected (1-2 seconds). However when I add a new form the problem appears again for that form. Obviously this is not desirable. Here is what ZK is telling me:

"The reason these are submitting rather slowly is the captcha verification."

"there is a problem with either another plugin or the theme"

"I will be talking with one of our DB admins in the morning to see if he can help me figure out why the database process is sleeping on some form submissions."

"I am unable to figure out exactly why this is or why gravity forms is having the tables sleep."

As you can see, the common thread that runs through these responses is that the problem has something to do with my plugins and/or theme (I'm using WooThemes) and not their servers. However I can run virtually the exact same forms (export/import with very minor changes) run on WPEngine and Synthesis without a hitch.

Anyway I'm not asking you to offer a solution. That needs to come from ZippyKid. I suspect that the probelm has nothing at all to do with Gravity Forms. I'm just a little shocked that a highly-regarded WordPress hosting company would suggest that it might. If GF was misbehaving why aren't other ZK users having the same problem. Or are they? I couldn't find any issues with ZK raised in the forums. Any light you can shed on this would be helpful. Thanks!

Delays like you are talking about are usually due to memory limitations or other similar issues. Have them make sure both PHP and WordPress have over 128MB of memory available. Hopefully, they are able to track down the issue and resolve this for you.

    Hi,
Sorry to jump in but I have a VERY similar problem.

Running WooThemes - Canvas + WooCommerce and other Woo plugins as well as GF and GF USer Registration. All hosted on Zippykid, all latest versions from fresh downloads and installs.

Client has reported that user registrations can take over 1 - 2 or even 3 minutes!

I had seen a previous GF post mentioning memory so Zippykid bumped my sites WP memory to 96mb at my request (WooCommerce suggests 64mb as a minimum) and their support guy said the following

"Sorry that you are having this problem but there is nothing we can do on this end, what happens in this case is that gravity forms has to post to the database, after that then send the emails so if it's a big form, or if it contacts a 3rd party for something, its really not unreasonable for forms to take that amount of time to complete. If there is anything else we can help you with, please let us know."

The user reg form now simply asks for name, email and phone number, registers the user on a Campaign Moniter subscriber list and then registers the user on the WP site and give s them access but it is still waaaay slow.

A true pain! I have used GF on bog standard shared hosting platform and it works like a charm (providing WP has enough memory). Moving sites to Zippykid with WooCommerce functionality and GF forms (not even big ones) has so far caused my days of delays!! Definitely a ZK issue which I have yet to get to the bottom of.

Sorry you guys are having issues. Hopefully, with the information you've found so far, they can figure out the source and rectify it for you.

@David - I passed your recommendation on to ZK and they upgraded the memory to 96MB. The response time now appears to be fine (i.e. 1-2 seconds) based on several dozen tests over the last week or so. Nobody is complaining so I guess we're good. Thanks David! You saved the day! Prior to your recommendation ZK support was out of bullets. Told me that they spent hours trying to fix this. I'm a little surprised that ZK didn't come up with your solution on their own. Oh well. At least it is working. Thanks again.

@OrwellDesign - Thanks for jumping in. It was interesting to hear how ZK responded to you. I can't believe ZK told you "its really not unreasonable for forms to take that amount of time to complete". Most of my clients would have had an aneurism if I told them that! :) Hopefully you have got things working. BTW, one of the WooThemes support guys told me that WP Engine does a ton of WooCommerce hosting. While I haven't used any of the Woo products on WP Engine, I've have done alot of Gravity Forms there. Not a single problem, ever! Just a thought if you haven't tried them. Best of luck!
