Can I change the html field name?

  1. Right now, all the field names are input_1 or input_10 or some numeric value.

So, I want to know is there any way to force gravity forms to use a specific field name/id rather than a generic input_#.

I have two reasons for asking for this.

    1) I have noticed that Browsers Autofill & Extensions/Plugins do a better job of pre-populating form fields if the form fields use standard names like email, phone number, etc.

    2) Some Software such as Kissmetrics, an analytics tool, uses the field names to pre-populate reports. With generic field names, the pre-population does not work.

We do not allow users to select the field name/id because Gravity Forms requires these to be unique to work correctly and if you had two fields with the name of email then this would cause issues that would lead to extra support resources being required. Our developers didn't make this choice lightly, and as much as I understand your issue, it was really the best way to manage the collection of data, validation, and the expansion of the things that Gravity Forms can do.
