Canvas + Gravity Forms = Problems

  1. I've been having problems for months (if not over a year now) where my admin will be blank and the only way I can fix it is to delete the gravityforms folder from plugins, re upload, and then hope it's fixed. Sometimes there are no issues.

For example, I was having problems and then updated to the new wordpress and everything was fine. Now it's not working again.

http://www.clintonsband.com/wp-admin is currently blank and I've deleted and re-uploaded gravityforms. The forms are currently working but sometimes I have to deactivate that plugin to get things to work, then if I forget to re activate (happens all the time) I lose tons of booking emails.

I'm using Woothemes Canvas and have posted this in the Woo forums but they suggested I ask you guys. They thought it sounded like a server issue?

    Any suggestions?

  2. If your admin is blank it sounds like a PHP memory related issue.

Your site is probably running out of available PHP Memory. You would have to increase the available memory. This is a common problem, your theme and plugins all utilize memory and most hosts set the default available PHP memory to a low setting. When you max it out it causes strange things to happen, including the white screen of death as it is sometimes called.

Here is a tutorial that discusses how to increase your PHP memory:

  4. I'm now having the same problem with a different theme and site. I'm using Gravity forms with WooThemes Listings, hosted with Rack Space Cloud. I installed Gravity forms and got the screen of death, then I increased memory limit in htaccess and wp-config.php, didn't work. So then I upgraded to 1.5.RC4.2 thinking that might fix it. Didn't fix it.

If I save the .htaccess file the white screen will go away, but then when I try something else it goes white. If I save the .htaccess file again, then refresh, the white screen goes away.

  5. That is very strange, it still sounds like a memory issue. You might want to double check with Rack Space Cloud to make sure how you increased the memory is how they handle it because it isn't the same on all hosts. I would suggest asking them about the issue also, it sounds like some sort of .htaccess issue.
