Changing the post category

  1. When I first added the post title field to my form, I chose uncategorized as the post category. Now I want to go back and change this to a different category but the option to choose the category has disappeared from the post title field. How do I get this back to change the category?

  2. Did you add a Post Category field to your form? Currently, if you add a Post Category field to your form the default category option goes away. We will look at making it possible to do both. To get it back you would have to remove any Post Category fields you have on your form and then add them back after you change the default Post Category.

  3. That explains it - I did add a post category field. Is it possible to remove the default post category entirely and only use the post category fields? (I'm allowing users to submit posts in 3 categories for a directory type site)
    Thanks!

  4. If you add a Post Category field or fields to your form, the default post category isn't used. It's only there for when you don't have a Post Category field so it knows which category to use.

  5. In my test submission I filled out 1 of my 3 post category fields. The post was created under this category and the default category. Will the default category always be added unless all 3 of the post category fields are used?
    Thanks again

  6. In my tests this isn't happening... can you send me an export of that form using the form export tool to carl@rocketgenius.com so I can take a look at it? Thanks!

  7. Hi Carl - I figured out what the problem is. The drop down list for each post category field is defaulting to "uncategorized" so that even if you don't choose a category it stills gets entered as uncategorized. How can I make the post category fields be blank by default?

  8. Currently you can't make it blank by default. But we are going to look at it and see what we can change for the 1.4 release so you can have a first option that is blank or has a label that isn't stored.

  9. Great! It would be perfect if it wasn't stored unless they filled it in and chose a category.
