Conditional Logic and Blank FIeld

I am trying to test to see if either of two fields is not blank.

In my form I have an email and phone number field. I want to hide the submit button until either one or both of those fields are not blank.

    Enable Conditional Logic is checked.
"Show" this form button "Any" of the following match:
    "Email" "is not"
    "Phone" "is not"

for both values, I have left the fields empty.

    I am using version: 1.6.4.2.1

Unfortunately, you can't currently test against blank. You will want to just make those fields required and then they won't be processed until people properly enter data into both rather than hiding the submit button.

that's very strange. I would have thought that testing for a blank field would have been #1 on the list. Is that a feature that's coming soon? eta?

We currently don't discuss development timelines or what is or isn't included as it has been more troublesome than helpful.

I will pass it on to the developers to let them know that someone would like it to exist. As far as I have seen since starting work here, no one else has needed to compare against nothing for conditional fields, but we are always looking for simplistic things to add to Gravity Forms.

Maybe some null/blank keyword would be more effective, as we probably don't want some users forgetting to enter a comparison and then thinking that things are broken or not working as they expect. What do you think?

    @David

Please also have a look at this thread:
    http://www.gravityhelp.com/forums/topic/conditional-logic-if-previous-field-is-not-empty-then-show-this-field

It shows that lots more people would like to be able to test against "blank/not empty" field in condional forms.

Yes please for me too. I have a similar scenario to that described. Checking for null or blank strikes me as very useful.

I have used applications in the past (like....yesterday) that require you to enter "BLANK" (all caps, without quotes) in order to test for an empty field. That ensures that you actually mean to test for an empty field and didn't just leave it empty in error.

  8. The ability to configure conditional logic so that a field can be shown or hidden based on a blank input value is on our internal roadmap. It is a feature we will be introducing in the future.

We have to be very careful with introducing functionality to conditional logic, it's extremely complex and when supporting a plugin that is being used by so many sites we have to be very careful with making core changes to major pieces of functionality such as this.

We have been making minor changes, adjustments and enhancements to conditional logic with each of the last few releases and will continue to do so in the future with new functionality being added on an ongoing basis a little at a time.
