Confusion as to HOW Paypal integration is supposed to work

  1. I think I've been wearing my Densa hat for a couple of days, but I think that a lightbulb just went off...

Is the idea behind the Paypal add-on to pass on the total amount to Paypal for it to process the transaction and the details to be emailed to me by the form? This makes any "products" created by me previously at Paypal (using their buttons) are now irrelevant and I don't pass this information along from my Gravity Form (but I may pass along the product codes and descriptions that I've created in Gravity) for Paypal to print on their confirmations and receipts?

(If so, that means I need to rethink what I've been doing, since I've been coming to it from the wrong way around, which is why I've been so confused).

  2. Gravity Forms passes the product information using the Pricing Fields from the form to PayPal.

It does not use ANY products or buy now buttons in PayPal. It's entirely API driven and uses whatever products you have configured in your form using the Pricing Fields.

In order to use the PayPal Add-On you must use the Product Field for products, the Option Field for any options a product may have, the Shipping Field for any shipping options for the order. These are the fields used to populate the order in PayPal.
