Default Selected Item in Dropdown populated by Taxonomy

  1. I have a custom taxonomy and I'm using a dropdown on a form populated by this custom taxonomy. One of the taxonomy names is "Open" and I'd like that to be the default item instead of a blank item. Is there any way to tell a dropdown populated by a taxonomy to have one of the items as the default (selected in HTML) option?

  2. What code or method are you using to populate your drop down with the taxonomy items? Can you post any custom code here?

  3. It's not custom code. I'm just using gravity forms and the populate via taxonomy under advanced.

  4. Just to be clear, say I have 3 items in a custom taxonomy:
    Open
    Closed
    Pending

I populate my dropdown via advanced with the "use taxonomy to populate" option. But I want "Open" to be the default instead of the "Select" text. that is default. I suspect I might be able to do this with a filter or other but I can't find anything close to what I'm trying to do.
