Does gform_field_css_class still work?

I'm trying to add a class name to my form fields using the gform_field_css_class hook, but nothing is working. I used the example shown here:

    http://www.gravityhelp.com/documentation/page/Gform_field_css_class

and verified that the $classes variable is getting my custom class name added to it, but it doesn't add the class to my form fields.

Any ideas? I'm running the latest stable version of WP and GF. Thanks!
