Email notification 'send to email' address from custom field

Hi - I've been working through this thread - http://www.gravityhelp.com/forums/topic/email-notification-send-to-email-address-pulled-in-from-post-custom-field as this is exactly what I want to do, however I'm a bit lost.

Doesn't seem that the "send to email' field in notificaitons will accept anything aside from an actual email address or {admin_email}.

It seems as though Carl is suggesting otherwise here http://www.gravityhelp.com/forums/topic/email-notification-send-to-email-address-pulled-in-from-post-custom-field#post-22162 but I've probably misunderstood.

    Has anything changed?

  2. If you add an email field to your form, set the default value to the merge tag for the custom field where you have access to the email address, then make that field hidden or admin only, you can then select that email field in the "send to email" drop down in your notification area. Is that not happening for you?

The trick is to be sure it's an email field in the form so it appears in the drop down in the notifications area.
