Email notifications

  1. Hi Gravity Team,
I seem to be unable to receive notification emails only after installing upgrade. I have read through some posts in the forum and noticed others having the same problem. After running through the tests you recommended I determined that it is probably a script issue having to do with smtp mail server delivery and I should install one of the plugins you recommend. However, upon doing this I still cannot receive the notifications and must not have configured it correctly. Is there a specific configuration that you recommend to fix this issue? I am using wp smpt plugin.
Thanks in advance for your help. http://basefitness.com/contact/

The settings for your SMTP plugin must come from your web host. Make sure the From address you want to use actually exists on your web server. All my best!

  3. Thanks. I'll contact them however they are not great with 3rd party plugin support and there is often a language barrier. If I understand the problem however I can help walk them through the solution. So, I have two questions if I may? 1. If they have to configure their server to allow certain scripts to work what do I need the wp smpt plugin for? 2. Can you explain what essentially are we trying to accomplish and what is it they need to do on their end so I can understand better and direct them? Thank you so much for all your help.
    Cheers, Matt

1.) I didn't ask you to ask them to make sure scripts work, but that you need to get your SMTP details from them and the From address you want to use needs to exist.

2.) We are trying to make it so that e-mail notifications get sent using SMTP. Currently you are trying to use wp-mail.php (PHP Sendmail) and it isn't working, so we are trying to work around that limitation.

SMTP e-mails require a great deal more configuration, as I'm sure you've noticed in the plugins for them. The problem you are experiencing is fairly common, unfortunately, and we do everything we can to help despite this not being a Gravity Forms issue... E-mail is just not as easy as most people think. Your server could be marking everything as Spam and thus not sending it. It could block all PHP sendmail scripts. It could be doing one of a number of things that would stop your notifications from working, and I'm limited on what I can do from my end...
