Email Notifications Stopped Working

We have created 5 different forms for our site and set up email notifications for all forms for both admin and user. Notifications were working fine last week and have since just stopped working on all 5 forms. We changed last week was the admin email address in general wordpress settings. We since changed the email address in the form notifications to match this general email addresses. As soon as we realized form notifications weren't working we changed email address back and it still won't work. We also deactivated any new plugins that might be causing a conflict and it still won't work.

We are at a loss...just can't figure it out. Aside from uninstalling and resinstalling the plugin we don't know what to do. We have spent hours building complicated forms and have quite a few DB entries already and having to reinstall would really create a big problem on our end.

Any suggestions would be a HUGE help!

  2. Most likely this is not a Gravity Forms related issue, so I would not recommend uninstalling the plugin, especially when you would lose the complex forms you have built.

Gravity Forms uses the built in WordPress mail function to send mail. It doesn't have it's own mail function. Depending on your web host, WordPress may not send email without using an SMTP plugin such as WP Mail SMTP. It would probably be a good idea to try installing WP Mail SMTP and see if you get emails.

Also, make sure you have entered a Subject, a Message, and a valid FROM and TO addresses for the admin and user notification on Gravity Form's notification page.

If you still can't get it to work, we will dig deeper.

  3. Depending on your web host, some web hosts also don't allow you to send mail via send_mail unless the FROM email address is an email address hosted on that web host. Your web host may have changed a setting on your server that could cause an issue.

I would suggest doing as Alex said above and if that doesn't work let us know.

    Who is your web host?

    Alex-

Would the SMTP issue make sense if email notify was working fine last week and not this week? Seems it would not have worked from the start correct? We will try the SMTP plugin anyway as right now we're open to trying anything that might work.

    Carl-

We currently use Value Reseller. The from email address is also hosted on same server. What is strange is that other emails are getting through (meaning admin notifications from basic wordpress functions...such as comments). Only Gravity forms emails are not working.... Will contact host and see how far we get and let you know.

    Thank you both!

  7. Have you tested the notification emails with different emails used in the from and to address?

Is it limited to just the Admin Notification, the User Notification or both?
