Embed YouTube Into Post Submission form

  1. How do I give the code permission to allow people to embed code (i.e. youtube, vimeo, etc.) into their post when using my post submission form? I have tried it and cannot get the embed code to stick in the submission? Any ideas?

  2. What field are you using? The Post Body field? It should allow HTML. Is it getting stripped out?

  4. I'm unable to reproduce this. Here are screenshots of the steps I took to recreate this:

Submitted a form containing YouTube embed code between two paragraphs using a Post Body field:

Viewed the Post that was created by editing the post:
    http://grab.by/9OvQ

Previewing the Post that was created:

Can you verify you are running Gravity Forms v1.5 (Forms > Settings page will tell you), if not please update. If you are, then it could be something else installed on your site that is causing the issue to occur as i'm unable to reproduce it locally. It could be a theme or plugin conflict of some sort.

  5. I just tried it again....I'm at a loss on this one....it really makes no sense.

Here is a list of plugins that I'm using:

    All in One SEO Pack
    Google XML Sitemaps
    Gravity Forms 1.5
Gravity Forms Registration Add-On Pack 1.0
Gravity Forms Mail Chimp Add-On Pack 1.3.2
    Login Lockdown
    Members (Justin Tadlock)
Search Everything (wordpress custom search plugin - which will be replaced with Google Custom Search as soon as my pages are indexed...lol)
    Simply Show ID's
    Theme My Profile
    WP-PostRatings
    WP-reCaptcha

I have no idea which ones would have anything to do with stripping html code out of a submitted post body.....it's wierd?!?!?!?!?!

  7. Have you tried switching to default theme and testing?

  8. I would do as Fred suggested, temporarily switch to the default theme and then test to see if it works properly. If it does, then it's probably an issue with your theme. It could be stripping out data that is posted. We've seen this happen before.

If it's not your theme then you would need to deactivate ALL other plugins, test to see if it still happens, and then activate each plugin one by one and test after each one.

You definitely have something else on your site that is introducing this issue, it's most likely manipulating ALL post objects and this is what is causing the problem.

Let us know what you find, when you discover if it's your theme or plugin we'd be glad to take a look at that theme or plugin and see what it is doing.

  10. Just to give you guys a heads up....I DID end up switching to the default theme to test and it gave me the same issue....any ideas?

  11. @Vegas Kev it's very odd because i'm unable to reproduce this issue locally which points to something specific to your site. Typically this would be a theme or plugin. Have you tested with both the default Twenty Ten theme and ALL other plugins deactivated?

  13. Hey guys, here's my site: http://beta.detroitdesignfestival.com/proposed-happenings/monster-dance-for-gravity-test/

I can embed an iframe if submitting through chrome, but if submitting through IE 8 or Firefox, it strips it. Any ideas?

    Thanks!

  14. @tridley,
The browser you use to submit the form really shouldn't make any difference. Are you using a Post Body field, or a regular Paragraph Field?
