Embedding a form in a page with the editor button is not working in IE8

It's not a big deal. I can embed the form manually. But it would be handy if the insert form button worked.
I am not sure if it's got anything to do with it but the page throws me a javascript error like this:
Gebruikersagent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.0; Trident/4.0; SLCC1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; Media Center PC 5.0; MDDC; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; .NET4.0C)

  2. The embed/shortcode button works fine in IE8 normally. You're probably experiencing a plugin conflict where another plugin is adding conflicting javascript to the admin page. I would suggest deactivating other plugins one by one to see if that's the case.

    Hi Kevin,

I tried that. Also when I have no other plugins active I get the same error.
I had this on other sites too. I run IE8 on Windows and the site is a pretty standard WP 3.0.1 install with the TwentyTen theme only slightly modified.

Also it works fine in FireFox. One more thing. Not sure if it is to do with this but often when i create a form in IE8 and hover over the info buttons I get a similar javascript error. And I cannot further edit the form. Perhaps this is the same bug?

I have no clue what the problem otherwise could be. Do you have any idea?

    Thanks, Han

  4. I haven't encountered any similar problems in IE8 but I'll be happy to go back and test again to make sure. Are you using the current release version - 1.4.5 or using the new 1.5 beta version?

    Hi Kevin,
I am using 1.4.5. But the same error occurred in earlier versions. It's weird that I'm sort of the only one having this problem. I'm not sure what more info I could add, so that you could reproduce the same error.
Don't waste too much time on it though if I'm on my own here. I'll work around this than.

    Thanks, Han

  6. Dunno but others, but my IE allows me to debug any errors. If you can do that it will tell you the exact line of code and/or function encountering the problem.

  7. Han, I haven't had an opportunity to dig into it again yet, but I don't mind at all. I'd like to find out what's going on and get you rolling if we can.

I'm having the same issue. Using IE8, and GF 1.4.5.
I get both the javascript error when I hover over a '?' when editing a form (popup comes up, but never leaves), AND am unable to use the automated form insertion icon...the dialog comes up, but nothing happens when I hit 'Insert Form'. The dialog box just stays there.
This is what the java error shows:

  9. If the "Insert Form Wizard" does not insert the shortcode it is a browser cache issue.

Your browser is loading javascript from cache and has not loaded the javascript necessary for this functionality to work.

All you need to do is completely clear your browser cache, restart your browser and try again.

This goes for the other user having the same issue in this thread. It's simply your browser not loading the javascript necessary for this functionality to work because of your caching settings.

    That Worked!

For others who may happen on this thread...if using IE8, go to menu: 'Tools' > 'Internet Options' > 'Browsing History'' > 'Delete' and select 'Temporary Internet Files' (you can leave the rest unchecked if you don't want to lose history and passwords, but don't check the top item for 'favorite sites')..then hit the 'Delete' Button.

    Thanks
