Enabled routing, BCC fields are not working

I've enabled routing and configured 4 email addresses to send to if a specific form element is selected.

I've placed 2 email addresses in the BCC field like so:

    user1@domain.com,user2@domain.com

The admin user gets an email, however the emails entered in the BCC field are not sent notifications. I am using the Configure SMTP plugin. The only person to gets the email is the email that was entered under a field we have called "Hiring Manager" as well as the admin - which is desired behavior. The emails in the BCC field won't send.

I have also noticed, that when I view the entry, and select Admin Notification, and click Resend notifications, the emails do not get sent out. I have to manually type in user1@domain.com,user2@domain.com, and click Resend Notifications.

Any ideas? I'm going to skim through our SMTP logs as well in the meantime.

Can I have you try with just one e-mail in the BCC field, and also the following troubleshooting steps please - http://www.gravityhelp.com/documentation/page/Troubleshooting_Notifications

Is this with the latest WP and GF versions?

Tried it with just one email address - did not work. I will try to take a look at this article later. This is a Debian server (turnkeylinux) and we haven't had issues. This was working before, there was a recent upgrade and since then, it broke.

Here is our SMTP log - as you can see it is not including the BCC fields. Also, after updating the form plugin this morning, email notifications have completely stopped.

If I re-send notifications, the emails ARE going to the emails in the BCC field, but that's only if I go into the form's notification settings and click Re-send Notifications. Something strange is going on after the plugin was updated.

    Can you help?

The instructions I gave you is really the extent of our ability to troubleshoot notification issues. Gravity Forms passes the information to WordPress' sendmail script (wp-mail.php). Other plugins could be interfering with that, or server settings. I see you have a Barracuda, could it be marking all your mails as Spam before they get out into the world?

Just performed another test. I went to Gravity Form's notification settings on the form. Once I changed the Send To: from Select a Field to Enter Email - the email went through just fine.

Once I go back to Select a Field, or Configure Routing - the emails are not delivered.

This appears to have nothing to do with our SMTP server - once I change the method to Enter Email from within the form, and specify an email address, the email goes through.

    Any ideas?

Once I change it back from Send To to Select a Field, which is how we used to have the form in perfect working order, it no longer sends the email to the email that I'm testing with.

The ONLY way this form sends an email is if we select Send To and manually enter an email address in there.

Also - these are all internal email addresses, we just tested with the Barracuda temporarily.

    Just to confirm:
    - When you have an address typed into the notification To address, it sends an e-mail fine? What e-mail address are you using? The same as what is selected or routed?

    - When you use select field and choose an e-mail field, it does not work? What e-mail address are you putting in the field?

    - When you use routing, it does not work? What settings are you using?

Are you running any plugins that would change WordPress' e-mail settings?

Doesn't matter which email we use, when we manually type it in, the emails go through.

Correct - when we configure Routing, or Select a Field, the emails do not work.

As far as when we select a field, we require the hiring manager to input their email address. I've tried my personal Gmail as well as our domain email address, emails no longer go through. This has always worked in the past. We have not made any changes internally.

We have been using the Configure SMTP plugin for almost a year, and have not had any issues. I've even tried disabling the plugin and filling out the form again, still the same results. Everything was working fine until Gravity Forms was updated.

Is it possible to chat on the phone, and I can show you my screen? We have a developer license. There are too many weird things going on and it's very difficult to explain via forums.

If phone support is not an option, can I show you some screen shots of our settings?

We don't do phone support, but if you are a developer license holder, please post on our Priority support so we can more easily communicate through e-mail - http://www.gravityhelp.com/priority-support/

    Thanks David.

I will have to come back to this in a bit.

I think I found the issue - the From: email address was not set to {admin_email}, once I set it to {admin_email}, the emails started going out.

    Thanks for your help David!

OK - I spoke too soon. All notifications that we have are working EXCEPT for the ones where we are using routing and BCCing. I was able to come to this conclusion because all of our other forms are working fine with our existing settings - I even deleted and re-created the notifications, which were working until I enabled routing based on certain tickboxes on our form, and then the BCC functionality stopped working.

I will open a Priority case so I can send emails of our configuration for your review.

Hopefully, we can get you all sorted out. It is strange that it is an issue with BCC and routing. Please confirm that your from address is set on all of them, and try to isolate as many factors as you can. You've proven that Gravity Forms can send e-mail notifications, so that leads me to think it is some conflict with the SMTP plugin you are using? Our Priority case can also give you a copy of our logging add-on that might help figure out the source of the issue.

    All my best!

Sure thing. I just sent over some screenshots in response to the support confirmation.

I have indicated in my support ticket that the Admin Notifications are not going out when the form is submitted, only the regular User Notifications which do not contain routing options. I can then manually Re-Send Notifications and specify 2 email addresses, and they go out.

    Strange indeed.

UPDATED - I just disabled the SMTP plugin. Using the built in WordPress email, it still does not send emails to those specified in BCC when routing is enabled.
