Error updating on server but not on localhost

  1. I've been able to update my copy of Gravity Forms on my development PC running MAMP without any problems (from 1.6 to 1.61), but when I try to update it on my "live" app running on the server, I get the following error message:

    Could not copy file /u/l/lfox/www.accounting-wizard.com/wp-content/upgrade/gravityforms_1.tmp/

And I continue to get the message that Gravity Forms is not updated whenever I log into the back end.

Should I simply FTP all the files from the development PC up to the server?

    Thanks.

(OK, something even weirder--the only plugin that I have showing in my plugin directory inthe dashboard is Gravity Forms. None of the others are listed--but they're still running on the blog!)

  2. I would suggest downloading Gravity Forms from the Plugin Downloads page and manually FTPing the files to your server. FTP into your wp-content/plugins folder. Delete the existing gravityforms folder and all of it's files. And then upload the new gravityforms folder.

The error you received is a server related error. WordPress was unable to copy a temporary file as part of it's built in update routine. This is built in WordPress functionality, not Gravity Forms specific functionality, so something is up with your site or possibly file permissions on your server.
