External variables, custom merge tags, post meta and the like - help?

  1. Hello there,

I'm looking for a way to display external, readonly data in a form. I've tried using a custom merge tag, but with no luck. I have the choice of sending the data either via the url, or via a custom meta box (am working with CPTs). I've successfully used variables when the data comes from a list already defined within GFs, but this time the info is open-ended (basically prices that will be defined each time - impossible therefore to create a pre-defined list).

Can someone point me in the right direction? I feel like this should be easy, but I'm just not seeing it.

    thanks!

  3. ok, I'm back. so yes, that works great for passing variables into a field via a URL. even better would be a custom merge tag that I could insert into an html block, to then have some fancy text and stuff around the data. have seen a few forum posts about this, but none that have been worked out. not having any luck with {custom_field:[name]} ...

    any help appreciated!

  4. Hi there,

So, can anyone help me out? I've read the info about gform_merge_tags, but I'm not understanding how to connect my meta data to the merge tag itself. Basically, I want to send data to my form from a CPTs custom meta box (prices). Ideally, this would get plugged into the form in an HTML block, nestled between some hard-coded text.

I can get my variable *to* my form page from the CPT, but I'm not getting how to convert that into something GF can pick up.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!
