Fearful of the 1.7 upgrade notice

  1. I just read the 1.7 beta 1 upgrade notes.

Developer Notice: Due to the extensive changes made to Gravity Forms v1.7 and the major enhancements to Form Settings, Notifications and Confirmations, this introduces significant changes to how customizations are implemented with these features. We have posted a complete rundown of how Gravity Forms v1.7 will impact developers and what you should know in order to make your customizations Gravity Forms v1.7 compatible. You can find that information here.

How do you turn off auto updates because this just sounds like an upgrade that is going to break my 3rd party add-ons, some of which aren't regularly supported and I depend on (like GF Directory). I just really don't get the "upgrade" which just seems to move around existing features, which they openly warn will potentially break others add-ons. But no topics that have been raised as real improvements to functionality are addressed in the upgrade notes. I don't get it. Am I missing something?

Confirmations and Notifications are more important than built in record editing? Is GF stuck in just being a really cool contact form solution? This makes it seem like that.

And look, I made it basically work for what I need, barely. GF Directory that made the record editing feature possible saved me there.

And to be honest, I do want contact forms that have logic that lets me send different requests to different people. Maybe even confirmations? But you pushed this product into a whole different space. Can we get the update WP user part working?

But PLEASE don't push an update that is going to break all those add-ons w/o fully warning everyone and don't make the push automatic until these issues are worked out.

I don't want real issues to be overwhelmed by everything this push will break.

    My 25 cents.
