Fields without content but forced validation?

  1. I have two fields in my form, one is the "Website" and one is the "Email" field. Neither field is required however my form will not submit without these fields validating which effectively makes them required fields.

Is there a way to disable this so that the fields only validate if they are populated?

    thanks

  2. That's not the normal behavior for these field. The fields shouldn't cause a validation error if they're not required and the values are left empty. I've tried this on multiple test installations ranging from WordPress 2.9.2 to the current 3.0 RC2 and I've not been able to replicate the problem.

Have you tried disabling other plugins and or scripts to see if there is some sort of conflict there?

  3. I'll try that, if I can't get it to work, in the short term I'll just make them required fields.
