Is it possible to allow a customer to start a form, i.e. in my case a test, and save where they are to come back later? It will need to be associated with the user. This is a strange request, I might be better of creating a custom post type.

Save and continue functionality is not currently an available feature. It is a feature we plan on adding in the future, but the way we want to do it is much more advanced and useful so it won't be done until we have more time to devote specifically to that feature.
